Office News

April is Donate Life Month

We are proud to announce that the Sumter County Tax Collectors' Village Service Center and Bushnell offices have been recognized for their efforts in the Donate Life Florida campaign. These two offices have made a dedicated effort in educating customers about the Donate Life Florida program while obtaining their Driver License. The Village Service Center office received a total yearly precentage of 54.49% of customers signing up and the Bushnell office received a total yearly precentage of 51.80%.

...Donate Life Florida is a non-profit 501(C)3 organization contracted by the State of Florida, Agency for Health Care Administration to create the state's organ, tissue and eye donor registry. Donate Life Florida is dedicated to motivating Floridians to designate themselves as organ, tissue and eye donors, so lives are saved and enhanced through donation and transplantation.

Donate Life Florida was established in 1997 by all Florida organ, tissue and eye donor programs in operation at the time under the name Florida Coalition on Donation. Among its signature programs is the award-winning college campaign, Get Carded.

Today, more than 3,700 patients listed at Florida transplant centers await life-saving organ transplants. Many of these individuals may get a second chance at life due to the generosity of those who designate themselves as organ, tissue and eye donors on Florida's organ and tissue donor Registry.

The Joshua Abbott Organ and Tissue Donor Registry was created in 2009 to allow Floridians an easy, user-friendly means of joining the state's Registry. Floridians can join the Registry through this Web site, when renewing their driver license online, or when obtaining/renewing their license at a local driver license office. You can also join the Registry by calling Donate Life Florida directly at 1-877-35-SHARE (1-877-357-4273) and requesting a registry form.

If you already have "organ donor" on your driver license, you still are encouraged to join the new registry to ensure your previous designation is documented. You have the power to Donate Life! Visit www.donatelifeflorida.org to become an organ, tissue and eye donor. Your generosity can save up to eight lives through organ donation and enhance dozens more through tissue and eye donation.

Office Hours Changing

Sumter County Tax Collector Randy Mask is pleased to announce extended hours of operation for all three office locations. Each office will now be open from 8:00am to 5:00pm. Driver License services will close at 4:45pm, which are offered at the Bushnell and Villages Service Center. The new office hours will be in effect on Monday, February 4, 2013. I will continue to look for ways that will better serve and accommodate the citizens of Sumter County.
